Reflections Along the Way

November 12th 2025

The LIFE project is now entering the final stretch, with most objectives already achieved. In the last years, we have "walked the talk" - meaning producing and delivering huge quantities of modules to our customer.  It has been a tough journey but we are extrmely pleased with the results. Setting up production is no small feat; it requires activities within all aspects from close collaboration with the customers toa ctual production and quality control. During the last part of the project we will continue to spread the word and ensure to maximize the impact of efforts.

November 13th 2024

The LIFE project has now reached its halfway point, with steady progress so far. In this first phase, we focused on technical work, including moving to a new facility to support larger production, testing and validating our production line, and improving our Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). The LCA allows us to measure the environmental impact of our products from production to disposal. With these essential steps complete, we are ready to move into the next phase, which will focus on commercial development—bringing our solutions to a wider market and increasing the project’s impact.

    Full Range of Products

The LIFE project has reached another important milestone. Over the last year Epishine has, supported by the LIFE project,  developed products tailored for customer specific needs and further enhanced our manufacturing production capabilities. This has enabled us to ship tens of thousands of modules to paying customers–each and every one quality controlled. Based on the feedback, we have been able to optimize the products and the manufacturing process even further. The results speak for themselves; at the start of the project we had recently launched our first product. As we are now wrapping up the LIFE project we have a product catalogue with multiple variants to fit every need of our current and coming customers.

    Presentation at Lopec

Thomas Österberg, R&D Director at Epishine, presented at Lopec on the industrial processing of low-light photovoltaic (PV) technology. In his talk, he provided insights into Epishine’s innovative approach to capturing indoor light, the scalability of its roll-to-roll production line, and how this technology is shaping the future of energy-efficient electronics. He also discussed key market segments where Epishine’s solutions are making an impact, highlighting applications in IoT, retail, and consumer electronics.

    Networking With Electronic Industry

Interacting with other innovation initiatives is a great way of spreading the word and connecting to new possible partners.

Anders Elfwing was recently invited as a speaker at Circular Business Lab presenting how the LIFE project has enabled Epishine to develop sustainable products to replace batteries with major industrial players such as Marshal, NCAB group, etc in the audience.

    Start of LIFE Project

The LIFE project officially started in September 2022 as an EU-funded initiative. Key milestones included the formation of the project team and project steering.

From Our Feed

The Project

The LIFE SUNRISE project primarily aims to scale up and demonstrate Epishine's paradigm-shifting technology. This advancement will broaden access to innovative organic photovoltaic (OPV) solutions within the Internet of Things (IoT) context, and potentially, in Building-Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV) in the long term. The project is focused on offering affordable organic solar cells in massive volumes, with a minimal climate impact during production.
