Capturing light for a sustainable tomorrow

World Leading Carbon Footprint

At Epishine, we're dedicated to revolutionizing the way everyday devices are powered. Our innovative solar cells are designed to capture indoor light, eliminating the need for disposable batteries and significantly reducing electronic waste.

Our journey towards a more sustainable future starts with our technology, which is designed to make devices self-sufficient, reducing the need for cables, disposable batteries, and the associated maintenance. By making electronics greener, we aim to contribute to a healthier planet.

Understanding our environmental impact

Measuring Our Sustainability

Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is a crucial tool that helps us comprehensively assess the environmental impact of our products. It examines every stage of a product's life, from the production of our solar cells to their use in various devices. LCA provides us with valuable insights into how we can make our technology even more environmentally friendly.

LCA forms the foundation of our commitment to sustainability. It empowers us to take strategic actions, manage our environmental impact, and communicate effectively about the environmental aspects related to our products.

Our latest assessment is done by the external party Miljögiraff AB and third party validated by Sweco.

With sustainability as the priority

Reducing Our Carbon Footprint

At Epishine, we take pride in our unwavering commitment to sustainability. Emitting a mere 37.11g of CO2 per 50x50 module in early 2023 with several initiatives ongoing to reduce even further.

Sustainability has always been our top priority in developing our patented production method. This is reflected in our continuous choices in the development of our production process such as avoiding high temperatures and excluding certain materials. While current results mark a gratifying achievement, we remain committed to further improving our products’ environmental performance.

Innovating for Tomorrow

Printing Solar Cells

Our journey towards sustainability begins with the way we manufacture our solar cells. We employ a roll to roll production process that minimizes environmental impact. Our solar cells are thin, measuring just above 0.2 mm, and over 99% of their composition consists of PET material where 1g of the active semiconductor material is sufficient for many square meters.

We prioritize maintaining low production temperatures, ensuring that our manufacturing process is as gentle on the environment as possible. By combining these practices, we create solar cells that are not only efficient, but also a sustainable option.

I have really appreciated working with Epishine. They have incorporated the results of our LCA into their roadmap and immediately iterated to reduce the environmental impact of their product. We look forward to continuing to provide Epishine with environmental calculations to aid their journey towards driving sustainable change.
